2309 - Sr. Staff Accnt./Policies and Procedures

* Uses experience and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the accounting field to create and maintain policies and procedures in accounting for the bank.* Maintains thorough knowledge of and conducts research on generally accepted accounting principles, SEC and regulatory reporting practices. Evaluates major changes in regulations and reporting requirements and their impact on the company's financial position and its internal and external reporting.* Formulates and/or enhances internal accounting systems and analytical reports, including the documentation of accounting policies, to improve information resources available to management and to improve the reliability and accuracy of reported data.* Responsible for reading and interpreting new pronouncements and determining their impact. Presents the findings to management. Subject to Management review, will make recommendations regarding how current practices need to change. * Documents and maintains accounting procedures and policies for the company. Reads, analyzes and interprets business periodicals, professional journals and government regulations. Writes reports, business correspondence and procedural manual. Presents information to controller and other senior management.* Reviews new products and processes and determines appropriate accounting treatment.* Assists bank areas, both within and outside of the finance department, on special projects as needs arise.Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA or Master's degree preferred. Minimum 8 years experience preferably in operational/financial accounting, financial analysis or reporting. Experience with accounting practices & procedures.* Proficient in the use of PCs particularly in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.* Working knowledge of operational/financial accounting, financial analysis, economics and statistics. Ability to read and understand financial reports and accounting transactions. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proven experience in writing manuals and procedures and business reports for management.
