Accountant (non-profit)

Our client is an extremely recognizable non profit organization representing and promoting business within Washington, DC.  They are seeking a sharp and knowledgeable financial professional (ideally with some background in non-profit/association accounting) for key role in the organization who wants to continue their career growth in an exciting and dynamic environment.  This person will report directly to the CFO and will run the accounting operations on a daily basis and have significant interaction with the leadership of the organization.

Qualified candidates will have an Accounting Degree and 4+ years of related business/accounting experience.  You should be considered a quick study who will diligently work through routine accounting functions as well as be highly capable of tackling the complex.  Broad knowledge of accounting principles and application must be complemented by excellent organizational skills, reliable attention to detail, versatile PC capabilities and the ability to work independently. Equally important is the ability to improve and implement policies and procedures for a dynamic and growing organization.

Responsibilities:

•  Hands on management of the daily operational accounting function to include full cycle A/R, A/P, payroll, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.

• Manage the general ledger and ensure the accurate and timely recording of all transactions.

• Coordinate and close the books on a monthly basis.

• Reconcile bank and investment accounts and all schedules and sub-ledgers, e.g. fixed assets, depreciation and prepaids.

• Assist the CFO with the monthly and annual reporting, budget development and the annual audit

 

Requirements:

• BS in accounting or finance; Solid technical accounting knowledge

• Strong analytical skills with particular attention to accuracy and details

• Strong computer skills (excel) and knowledge of Quickbooks

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal, planning, and problem solving skills

• 4+ years accounting experience with proven ability to consistently manage projects and meet deadlines
