Accounting Clerk – Payroll and Accounts Payable*
Location: San Mateo, CA

NextLabs is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk, reporting directly to the Controller. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for all duties related to Payroll Processing and Accounts Payable. The candidate must have the ability and experience to perform all tasks in these areas as well as the professionalism and sound judgment to work independently without constant supervision. This candidate should also have the willingness and drive to learn new Accounting-related tasks as required.
Responsibilities include:
Perform Payroll duties including, but not limited to, processing new hire and termination paperwork, setting up new states, processing commission statements, calculating pro-rated pay amounts, updating benefit deduction percentages and amounts, reviewing ADP reports for accuracy and creating and inputting Payroll-related journal entries to the General Ledger.Process vacation transactions including tracking of vacation balances.Perform Accounts Payable duties including, but not limited to, reviewing invoices and expense reports for accuracy, obtaining appropriate approvals, processing invoices for timely payment including coding invoices to proper accounts, preparing checks and documentation for signature, maintaining Accounts Payable files.Reconcile credit card and other credit accounts.Prepare vendor reconciliations.Process purchase orders in accordance with company policy.Process 1099 and other year-end related documents.Process 401K, FSA and HSA contributions.Provide requested information to assist with monthly accrual process.Provide requested backup for fixed asset and other ledgers.Provide support to the Human Resources department.Perform other related duties and assignments, as required.
Requirements:
A Bachelors degree is preferred.2+ years of Payroll and Accounts Payable experience preferably in a start-up and high-tech environment.Experience in handling confidential information.Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems, preferably, Peachtree and ADP, resp.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Internet Applications.Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to multi-task.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Highly flexible – must be a self-starter and team player with a “can do” attitude.Cheerful personality who enjoys working with people.
