Manages the preparation and timely completion of the HMI consolidated financial statements and other reports for distribution to management. 2. Reviews monthly reports, reconciliations and journal entries completed by staff. 3. Researches and resolves complex accounting issues for financial statement preparation and presentation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 4. Manages the day-to-day activities of the annual audit process, including the preparation of the audited financial statements. 5. Manages the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns, property tax returns and local business taxes and licenses. 6. Provides support to the Assistant Controller in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax returns. 7. Provides assistance during the annual budget process, including preparation of the budgets for assigned companies. 8. Partners with the Assistant Controller to ensure consistent application of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. 9. Evaluates and develops staff to assure a level of performance necessary to achieve current and future objectives. 10. Ensures high employee morale through regular communication and meetings and by soliciting employee ideas and concerns. 11. Develops and maintains expertise with Oracle Financial applications and applicable subsystems.
