Assistant Controller - SRI International

SRI Interantional is looking for a Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and the other Financial Managers to ensure that SRI complies with all legal, regulatory and company procedures.  This position will be responsible for researching new accounting pronouncements, determining proper treatment in accordance with GAAP, FAR and other statutory requirements.  The position will also be responsible for the day to day accounting of various transactions including accounting for various state sales tax requirements.  The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller.



Essential Functions:Work closely with external auditors on the audits of the annual financial statements, OMBA-133, sales tax and benefit plan audits.Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing budgeting advice for various corporate functions.Oversee the management of the Payroll function.Oversee the documentation of all internal controls, identifying gaps and correcting them, and identifying and implementing improvements in the overall control structure and doing so consistent with the growth of the Institute.Provide recommendations for business process improvements and internal controls.  Escalate potentially significant risks and exposures to senior management.Proactively research technical accounting and reporting matters and stay abreast of pending changes in relevant technical guidance and analyze potential impact on the Institute.Assist in the indirect rate calculations for the Institute.Assist in the creation of presentations for the Board of Directors and executive management.



Experience and Education Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or other related business major required.A minimum of 5 years professional experienceThorough current knowledge of financial practices and procedures.  Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is desirable.Strong internal control and policy implementation experience.Big 4 Public Accounting experience is highly desired.SRI International is a Equal Opportunity Employer
