Job Purpose: Processes and verifies applications for credit and solicits payment on overdue accounts. Updates and maintains a variety of files and records associated with delinquent accounts, incomplete files and determined credit risks. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Works with and collects balances due from customers. Resolves issues to facilitate payment. Maintains and updates records of all delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks. Approves credit limits within R & A (responsibility and authority). Assesses and makes recommendations on credit limits above R & A. Maintains and updates credit file. Protects against bad debt. Reviews and action orders in credit suspense. Provides support and serves as a resource to sales. Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Credit & Collections field. Knowledge of customer service practices and applications Knowledge of file and records management. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations. Skill in providing high levels of customer service. Skill in working with internal and external contacts and resources. Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing Microsoft office products. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Work experience requirements: Four (4) years of collections, credit, bookkeeping, clerical accounting or closely related experience. Education & Certification Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.
