Job Description

 

Madison Capital Management, LLC, an alternative investment management firm that specializes in niche real estate, distressed, natural resource, and special situations investments, is currently seeking a Director of Fund Accounting to join its Denver-based team.  Founded in 1996, Madison maintains offices in Denver (CO), New York (NY), Kansas City (KS) and, through Madison (Europe), Luxembourg.  As of October 2007, Madison and its affiliates has invested over $730 million in capital on behalf of a select group of U.S. and European institutions, and has approximately $400 million of assets under management. 

 

 

 

TITLE: Director of Fund Accounting 

 

REPORTS TO: SVP Acct & Finance

 

DEPARTMENT:  Finance and Accounting

 

LOCATION:  Denver, Colorado

 

SCOPE: The Director of Fund Accounting is responsible for the financial operations of the funds, recording and reporting of Company funds, and the day-to-day operations pertaining to fund activities.

 

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Responsible for fund general ledger activities and reconciliationsPrepare monthly journal entries deemed necessary for financial adjustmentsPrepare financial, management, and investor reporting packages on a monthly and quarterly basis for the funds and their subsidiariesFund performance reportingCoordinate preparation of year-end and other audit schedulesAssist the independent auditors with audit engagementsAssist with the coordination and preparation of tax schedulesOversee relations with the fund administrator to ensure timely and accurate delivery of information pertaining to fund financialsWork closely with the operations department to seek resolution regarding reconciliation issuesAssist in the coordination of coding various AP invoices for the funds and their subsidiariesEstablish individual goals & key objectives.  Manage to the established goalsPerform analysis of general ledger and investment activity to resolve issuesPrepare budget and cash flow analysis Manage overhead allocations of the fundsReview asset valuations to determine legitimacyManage cash flow of capital inflows and fund distributionsReview and maintain accounting policies and proceduresEnsure accounting policies and procedures are adhered to based on compliance and fund operating arrangementsFacilitate special projects as deemed necessary by management

 SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 Excellent communication skillsMust be proficient with computer spreadsheets (MS Excel) and MS WordManagement/leadership experienced.Detail orientedPositive professional attitudeAble to shift priorities on a regular basis

 

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

 4 year Accounting Degree or Associates Degree or applicable work experience resulting in thorough understanding of accounting principles.5+ years experience of progressive accounting experienceHedge Fund accounting experience
