Fisher Investments is a privately-held investment management firm headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area with a track record of successfully managing portfolios for high-net-worth private clients and some of the world's preeminent institutions. We've grown significantly over the past decade to over $45 billion in assets under management (as of December 31, 2007) and are now searching for an Director of IT Operations to join our team in our San Mateo, CA office.

 

This position will be responsible for managing the IT Operations group reporting to the Group Vice President. This person is responsible for helping provide the strategic vision for the enterprise infrastructure and the technology direction across the enterprise. This person is also responsible for managing a staff of technical professionals implementing and supporting the IT infrastructure including networking, telecommunications, trading support and operations. In addition, this person is responsible for developing process and procedures for overall IT Operations upgrading and maintaining data center operations, production controls, and system backups. This person works with project management to develop work plans, resource planning, budgeting, execution, and management for all operation and disaster recovery projects. This person also oversees all change request tracking, review, management, and approval.

 

Responsibilities:


• Provide vision, leadership, and rapid deployment oversight to ensure the company's technology keeps pace with evolving market and business demands.
• Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the infrastructure systems for the business.
• Manage enterprise infrastructure development and support to budget, schedule, scope, and quality guidelines for the following areas: Wide/Local Area Networks, Data storage, Telecom, Operations Support and other areas.
• Manage service provider relationships including ensuring SLAs are met, billing, issue escalation, vendor selection, negotiation, prioritization, and ongoing coordination.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with service and equipment providers
• Hands-On management of infrastructure staff including their development and performance
• Manage a 24x7 datacenter and disaster recovery site
• Establishing standards, processes, and policies for corporate wide infrastructure and operations

 

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in Computer Science or related field, advanced degree preferred
• Hands on experience supporting telecommunication, network, server and desktop infrastructure
• Solid understand of technology in the financial services industry
• 15+ years information technology experience
• 8+ years financial services or insurance preferred
• 5+ years IT management experience
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional leadership, prioritization, and project management
skills.
• Proficient problem analysis, measurement, and process methodology
skill set.
• Advanced knowledge of contract negotiation and vendor management.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
