Director of Financial Systems
The primary focus of the position is to manage, coordinate and facilitate Firm readiness for the continuity of software applications installs/implementation, upgrades and training. This opportunity will be viewed as a financial process and systems leader within the organization who is capable of bringing to bear information/resources and recommendations regarding strategic financial system initiatives. Applicants must have a good working knowledge of business fundamentals and required accounting/control functionality required to support business processes.
Additional requirements include a high level of experience in managing complex accounting/business system projects and developing an appropriate vision of the future state of financial systems in concert with the CFO, Director of Finance, and key business constituents. The Director of Financial Systems will bring consensus on the implementation, funding and development of that vision.
REQUIRED FUNCTIONS
Management of financial systems (Financial support – consolidation, budget, fixed asset, and reporting; Elite support – GL, AP, AR, Billing and reporting functions). Responsibilities include: Management of required outsourced projects/resources when necessary Liaison with vendors and IT System maintenance and report creation Management of requests and proper prioritization of maintenance and enhancement requests (new functionality, reporting, etc.) Implementation of and adherence to proper internal control standards relative to documentation, security, upgrades and/or programming, data controls, etc. (including close contact with IT to ensure proper use of test environments, etc.) Data base administration Support and training
Short Term Strategy Oversee testing and implementation of software applications upgrades Development of data warehousing priorities, implementation plans and information control requirements with Internal Accounting Assistance in development and management of short term tools – solutions for increased automation and ad hoc reporting and analysis
Longer Term Strategy
Work with CFO, Director of Finance, CIO and other constituents to develop long term vision regarding future state of financial systems. Required Skills
B.S. in Accounting required12+ years experience with heavy emphasis on past experience managing core general accounting processes and financial systems project implementation Extensive integrated system implementation experience required - with core knowledge of relevant accounting and reporting modules (G/L, FA, AP, AR, consolidation, analytical tools, e.g. business warehouse capabilities) Should have core understanding of key accounting fundamentals - chart of account development, hierarchy creation, general ledger transaction accounting flow, accounts payable/procurement procedures, intercompany accounting, etc. Direct experience in business process redesign work, specifically related to financial processes required Heavy emphasis on internal control requirements and best practice system security, maintenance, design, test and production processes Heavy project management experience Shared service support experience with ability to develop metrics, Service Level Agreements (SLA's) with direct customers (users) and manage to agreed upon deliverables. Director of Finance
This top firm is seeking a Director of Finance to assist its CFO with the financial affairs of the Firm in order to maximize the Firm's financial performance in relation to its strategic and operational objectives. The individual will be responsible for the oversight and design of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, modeling and analysis activities for the firm by varied sources of relevant data to establish progressive business solutions for the CFO, Business Group Leaders and the Executive Committee. As a newly created position, the Director of Finance will be charged with enhancing the financial reporting and planning function to a new level of performance and accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Long-term financial planning consistent with the Firm's strategic vision and goals Develops credibility for the various practice/service groups by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the CFO and the decision-makers in making Business Groups and Practice Support initiatives successful. Supporting the firm's Business Group and Practice Support leaders by providing appropriate resources and tools to ensure sound practice performance including client profitability, matter effective budgeting, and revenue planning and expense control. Exploiting the use of existing analytical software to evaluate and monitor performance, focusing on the most significant drivers of business to support better decision making.
Firm processes Enhance and/or develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures of the Firm by way of the systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company. Establish the necessary controls to maintain the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and to enhance the Firm's value. Acting as a change agent for new and innovated ideas. Recommending and implementing policies, procedures and process improvements.
Continual improvement of the budgeting process and reports Leads the preparation and execution of the annual operating and capital budgets, distributes monthly financial statements with written analysis, traces financial results on an on-going basis and prepares projection of expected results.
Leading, managing and developing a team of professionals involved in the day-to-day accounting operations and activities of the Firm Assist the CFO with monitoring cash flow and performing cash/treasury management. Oversee all the general accounting services of the Firm to include: accounts payable and cash disbursements, banking, compliance with accounting procedures and controls, expense reimbursements, fixed assets, general ledger, month end close and partners distributions. Develop recommendations on improving billing and collection processes with a concentrated effort towards reducing the time between actually providing services and collections on that service. Supervise and oversee Firm-wide payroll services to include: semi-monthly payroll, personnel addition, changes, and terminations, overtime payments, 401(k) contributions, cafeteria plan spending accounts, etc.
Systems and Equipment Keeping up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance. Ensure the operation of all automated systems and forms for handling timekeeping, billing, bookkeeping, and related matters. In conjunction with Director of IT, analyze the Firm's processing hardware and software system; make recommendations for improvements in such systems and assists in the implementation of any improvements adopted by the Firm.
Champion special projects and/or cross functional teams, as needed
Basic qualifications required: A minimum of 8 years of related experience, preferably in a professional services environment The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel in various industries Excellent written/verbal communications and collaboration skills Integrity within a professional environment
