Fixed Assets Sr. Accountant
Experienced Fixed Assets Accountant needed for company located in Irvine
This is a contact to hire position paying $55,000 per year
Full ownership for the accounting and reporting of the Corporate Headquarters fixed assets area.
Create and update the monthly Irvine and Worldwide Fixed Assets PP&E Roll forward Review. Research and resolve any discrepancies.
Have general understanding of every "major" capital project at Corporate Headquarters and its status, project completion date
Determine proper capitalization of Assets Under Construction (“AUC”)”. Correspond with each department to obtain status of long-term projects and determine if amounts in AUC should be capitalized during period. Communicate frequently with other departments to identify phases and milestones for projects to properly capitalize
Manage Capital Expenditure Budget Set-up and Reporting. Enter Capital Project Approvals (“CPA”) budgets into system and prepare related reports; work with Planning group in providing timely reports, such as the Top Capex Project reports, research and updates.
Be very fluent with the Fixed Asset Accounting Policy and Controls, make annual updates as needed. Be the main “go-to person” for company wide fixed assets questions, policy, etc.. Teach other global locations on JDE the Fixed Assets process
Candidate will actively participate in many Sarbanes Oxley control activities related to the fixed assets of the company. Person has responsibility for SOX controls around fixed assets. Position will have interaction with external auditors, our internal auditors, other department personnel and management.
Design and oversee physical inventory of fixed assets for all of Irvine headquarters. Manage the process of ensuring all departments do a rotating inventory every 3 years. Lead the Fixed Asset Physical Inventory Process whereby each department is has a full physical count on a rotating 3-year basis. Record the outcome of the inventory count in a timely manner (disposals, transfers, etc..)
Record Asset Splits, Disposals and Transfers of Assets. Process splits, disposals and transfers of assets in system, ensure entries are recorded properly. Some transactions may require allocations between departments, determine most efficient way to accomplish this in the system
Process Loaner Activity. Loaner activity is initiated from the MRP system. After processing activity for the period, review for reasonableness to ensure all transactions are recorded properly. Research loaner activity issues and resolve to report activity for the period
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Two to threes relevant experience is required in the accounting field
Experience with fixed asset accounting transactions and sub ledger
JD Edwards Enterprise One Fixed Assets experience is also a plus.
Microsoft-based operating systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
A minimum of two to three years accounting or related experience is required. Must have experience working with general ledger and fixed asset systems.
Special Requirements: Good communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as well as excellent organization skills, and detail orientation. Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
