The individual will be the deputy to the V.P. Risk Management, and must be able to support our internal customers by reviewing and analyzing complex contract terms, explaining risks and proposing risk mitigation techniques. The individual will also be responsible for the administration of all aspects of multi-national property and casualty insurance programs, including identifying and reporting exposures, preparing comprehensive underwriting submissions, developing renewal goals and objectives, evaluating policy terms and conditions, negotiating coverage and premiums, coordinating primary and excess coverages, reporting and oversight of claims third party administrator, and communicating with and directing insurer and broker personnel. The individual must be able to learn our company structure, be able to effectively work with other corporate departments, and be able to communicate risk management goals and objectives to diverse internal and external customers. The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration ( or related field) and 10+ years experience in risk management or a related field. We prefer at least 5 years in risk management or other treasury department role including the following abilities: • Basic business skills, including the ability to oversee insurance and self-insurance expense accounts, the preparation of accounting entries, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, the presentation and support of those accounting entries to the Controller. • Strong risk identification and analysis techniques, such as: o Read and evaluate complex contract and lease terms and conditions including insurance requirements, indemnification, limitation of liability, and warranty clauses o Analyze those contracts and identify exposures to risk, quantify the level of risk and recommend risk mitigation processes and communicate those issues and mitigation proposals to internal and external customers who lack an understanding of insurance principles o Draft alternative insurance contract terms and conditions and negotiate resolution. • Comprehensive understanding of property and casualty insurance contracts. o Experience in administering all aspects of complex, multi-national policies, including requesting and compiling underwriting data; preparing underwriting submissions, directing insurance brokers and interfacing with insurance underwriters; reviewing and evaluating renewal proposals and preparing financial comparisons of competing proposals, making recommendations to management; reporting and monitoring/managing claims and evaluating reasonableness of loss reserves o Ability to analyze premium invoices for accuracy, and prepare internal documents calculating the allocation of premiums o Experience issuing and responding to internal and external questions about Certificates of Insurance and Memorandums of Insurance • Experience working with and directing insurance brokers, claim administrators, and other vendors supporting insurance programs. o Analyze claim data to identify trends and risk reduction opportunities, interface with internal and external health and safety personnel, claim adjusters, legal staff in the resolution of claims. o Knowledge and experience with RMIS a plus • Experience in conducting due diligence investigation of acquisition targets, analysis of risk management issues and the development of integration plans. • Must be a team player with ability to also work independently and multi-task and meet deadlines • Well developed verbal and written communication skills a must • Bachelors Degree required, MBA desirable • ARM or similar industry credentials a plus “SAIC offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
