As the Assistant Director of Finance you will need to gain their trust and respect as someone who respects what they do and at the same time works with us to get the financial information they need to do their job in a collegial, collaborative manner. The organization is very flat. You will never hear someone in this organization say "that is not in my job description". There is a lot of departmental interconnectedness. The different operating units of the organization interface with each other frequently and daily. Job Responsibilities: As the new Assistant Director of Finance, reporting to the Deputy Executive Director you will provide hands-on strategic financial leadership for accounting & financial reporting, budgeting, financial controls, external audit, tax and grant compliance, and investments, cash and risk management. The Director of Finance identifies and implements best practices, solves business challenges, strives for continual improvement, analyzes internal and external financial trend and advises the Deputy Executive Director, Executive Director, and Finance Committee. The Director of Finance supervises accounting staff. As you can tell, this is much more of a strategic forward looking position than a nuts and bolts month end closing controller type position. Finally, the organization is looking for someone who is "hungry" for a career promoting opportunity. Requirements Include: * BS Degree in Accounting or Finance * Minimum 5-8 years of accounting experience with a non profit that receives its funding from foundations. * Prior experience with a 501 (3C) and or 501(4C) Compensation Package: Salary Range $100,000 - $120,000 with good benefits.
