Senior Corporate Accounting Manager Real Estate to 130K DOE
Dynamic mid-sized Real Estate Investment Company based in San Francisco with a consistent track record of growth is strategically expanding it’s financial team. The company offers and exceptional working culture and career expansion opportunities.The Manager of Corporate Accounting has primary responsibility for (1) the overall organization and administration of the corporate accounting group, including budgeting and reporting, oversight of staffing and training, allocation of personnel resources and establishment of standards, policies and procedures, (2) coordination of the corporate accounting activities with the activities of other business units, and (3) providing support to other business units on issues relating to corporate accounting, and accounts payable.Ideal candidate is currently in a similar role with prior Public Accounting experience
OR Currently in Public Accounting management with primary focus of Real Estate Investment.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, implement and maintain an effective and efficient structure for Corporate Accounting that supports the company’s business and financial goals. Manage and administer Corporate Accounting, including oversight of staffing and training and allocation of personnel resources. Design, document, implement and maintain standards, policies and procedures for Corporate Accounting to ensure consistency and quality of execution and performance. Manage all aspects of finance for Corporate Accounting, including budgeting, planning, forecasting, variance reporting, and operating systems. Achieve financial plan. Work closely with the leaders of other business units to coordinate Corporate Accounting’s activities with the activities of other business units to ensure company initiatives are pursued in an efficient, coordinated and cost-effective manner. Provide strategic direction and oversight to Accountants, and Accounts Payable Personnel to ensure timely and accurate preparation and delivery of monthly financial reports for all corporate cost centers. Manage corporate accounts payable and receivable process and pass through costs paid by parent company to the various cost centers. Ensure intercompany transactions are appropriately booked and reconciled. Ensure Blanket insurance policy and payroll benefits are appropriately allocated and passed through to various cost centers. Special projects which may include engaging consultants on real estate tax appeals, implementing operating system or IT related upgrades, office space planning, and other projects as needed. Coordinate all tax planning and compliance for all entities, including engaging external tax preparer, directing the Corporate Accountants interaction with external tax preparers, ensuring prompt, complete and accurate information is provided to them. This includes but is not limited to year-end compliance, quarterly information for the quarterly Investor Reports, and annual tax projections. Support the company’s Operation efforts by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of quarterly reforecasts. Provide well thought out and complete accounting advice and guidance to senior management including decision support and analyzing and recommending changes resulting from applicable legal and regulatory changes. Ensure corporate accounting activities maintain appropriate controls, comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, comply with corporate policies and guidelines and consistently adhere to GAAP.LEADERSHIP: Demonstrate effective management, leadership, coaching and development of staff to achieve company and department goals and objectives including but not limited to: Ensure goals and objectives are established for all staff within designated timeframes. Ensure job responsibilities and expectations are clearly defined and communicated, work is assigned and distributed appropriately, staff is appropriately trained, and performance issues are addressed in a timely manner. Conduct regular staff meetings. Regularly provide formal and informal performance feedback to staff including discussions of strengths and areas for improvement. Complete well thought out and well-documented semi-annual performance reviews and annual salary recommendations within designated timeframes. Demonstrates actions and communications that support the company’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs in all aspects of employment.QUALIFICATIONS: Expert knowledge of issues, procedures and practices associated with developing and maintaining property and corporate accounting function as evidenced by 7 - 10 years of experience in a related function. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and complex accounting software programs. Demonstrated ability to develop projects or plans to meet business group goals and strategies. Periodic updates are provided to senior management. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university. Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) or Masters (M.A.) in Accounting or Finance desirable. Minimum 3 years experience in managing a successful accounting function in a real estate environment. Minimum 7 - 10 years experience in accounting, including experience directing financial audits. Experience with national accounting firm highly desirable. Experience with Multi-family Real Estate, investment funds, and partnership tax returns highly desirable. Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) designation preferred.ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities from inception to conclusion within agreed upon deadlines. Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve problems and negotiate solutions that balance multiple needs and interests. Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to changing and sometimes ambiguous situations as well as to high-pressure situations. Demonstrates sound and accurate judgment. Demonstrated strong leadership skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other departments or functions within the company, including upward, laterally and downward in the organization. Demonstrated ability to read, to analyze and interpret complex documents. Demonstrated ability to make effective presentations on complex topics to senior management. Demonstrated ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrated ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrated ability to leverage accounting systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency of work processes, including management reporting.A generous compensation package consisting of base salary up to 130k DOE, incentive bonus and excellent benefits will be made available to the successful candidate.
