A Grossberg Company LLP client based in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Property Accountant. This client is highly regarded as an innovative real estate development company and one of the Washington area's premier homebuilders. As an entrepreneurial private real estate company, this client’s mission is to develop high-quality projects that create long-term value for owners, residents, tenants, investors, and the surrounding community. Instilled by integrity and a commitment to excellence, the company is comprised of over 500 dedicated employees specializing in all aspects of development, planning, zoning, finance, construction, marketing, leasing, and management.
As the Senior Property Accountant you will report to the Controller and performs all accounting functions, specializing in commercial and residential accounting practice. Some of the day-to-day responsibilities may include: Preparation of monthly and annual financials Monitor monthly and quarterly variations between actual and budget Analyze monthly statements of operations Review and adjust monthly accruals Preparation of various filings such as personal property and annual reports Preparation and analysis of annual budgets Preparation of year end work papers for our auditors Maintain all correspondence with IRS and State and Local Taxing Authorities May supervise or provide assistance to subordinates
Required Skills:MUST have four (4) year degree in Accounting from an accredited university MUST have a minimum of six (6) years’ accounting experience; two (2) years of experience in public accounting preferred Must possess an advanced understanding of accounting principles Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience required
· Experience in retirement home practices & accounting, a plus
· AS400 & BNA experience a plusComputer literacy required including proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and listening skills Excellent organizational skills and time management ability essential to meet recurring, and sometimes, concurrent processing deadlines Strong attention to detail is required Strong verbal and written communication skills required
