Position Description:

Our Decision Management Tools team builds and maintains Blaze Advisor, a class-leading business rules management system, which includes rule syntax parsers and engines, JEE and .Net deployment facilities, a powerful and flexible Java-based IDE, rule-editing metaphors such as decision trees, decision tables, and scorecards, as well as a web-based rule-editing interface for non-programmers. The team also develops market-leading Analytics, Simulation and Optimization products used successfully by organizations around the globe.

We are seeking a seasoned Software Development Manager to join our team of professionals in building the next generation of Decision Management Tools. This is a unique opportunity to participate as a senior manager of a skilled and creative product development team and to participate as a key member of our overall DM Tools leadership team. Our DM Tools portfolio includes innovative and best-in-class products in Business Rules Management System, Analytics, Simulation and Optimization.

Tasks include leading a 6 to 10 person team to:

- Refine and implement requirements to evolve and enhance our rule engine, server, and storage technologies.
- Analyze and maintain a large, multi-layer, multi-tier, multi-platform code base.
- Propose, communicate and understand advanced architecture/design ideas.
- Analyze and debug complex defects.
- Ensure that the product is developed for the long term.
- Help bring innovative, revenue-generating ideas to market
- Participate in all aspects of an iterative software development process, including: requirements discussion, effort estimation, detailed design, coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, maintenance and support.

The candidate should be able to act as forward looking innovator, a manager, and a technical mentor, who can successfully lead their team and also contribute as a senior leader in cross-team architectural, planning and management discussions.


Qualifications:

- Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related areas from a leading institution.
- 8+ years experience in design and implementation in an enterprise software product company.
- 3+ years as a software development manager or team leader, with a record of successful and timely delivery of significant software projects.
- Must have very strong object-oriented experience in Java and full familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in distributed computing, multi-threaded programming, performance and scalability tuning also a must.
- Desirable skills include proficiency with Business Rules Management Systems, Eclipse Plug-in development, compiler and back-end server design and development, .NET, and development for security sensitive applications. Also desirable:
- Knowledge of grammar definitions, advanced algorithms, web technologies and quality management
- Awareness of design documentation and usage of modeling using UML
- Awareness of data modeling concepts and RDBMS.

Work may require coordination amongst geographically distributed teams. May be required to work outside business hours at the end of release cycles, critical customer escalations, etc.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, show initiative and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated performance in leading teams to deliver innovation to the marketplace.
