Chief Engineer
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for leading all engineering tasks for the LUH rotorcraft DoD business. This position leads engineering, systems engineering IPT, working closely with the U.S. Government (Army, Navy, FAA, DCMA), Tier 1 and Tier 2 subcontractors, and the Aircraft Type Certificate holder. Contributes substantially to offer technical definition and engineering analyses called for by the customer. Works closely with the Program Manager/ Vice President and program IPTs to ensure overall contract performance at cost and on schedule. Liaises with internal company subcontractors and build strong working relationship to ensure capture and program success. The Chief engineer works with the other engineering functional leads to ensure practicable and appropriate engineering solutions.
Position Responsibilities
Lead a subordinate engineering team of very senior DoD Aviation Engineers; Engineering IPT (with the U.S. Government & Tier 1 Suppliers); internal engineering & engineering business processes.
· Represent the LUH Program Director & Deputy Director as a senior member of the LUH management team.
· Advise EADS senior management with respect to the LUH program engineering aspects, risks, and recommended Class 1 and Class 2 engineering change proposals.
· Cost account manager for the LUH engineering account; lead a sub-group for engineering program fiscal execution
· Initiate and ensure controls and procedures in accordance with DoD and industry best practices in all aspects of aviation and aviation support systems engineering from requirements definition through sustainment and maintenance engineering.
· Integrate all aspects of the LUH program engineering including DoD configurations, compliance with FAA regulations and Military Air Worthiness certification & release. Foreign military sales technical definition and engineering representation.

Position Requirements :
Candidates for this position should have at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10 years of progressive aircraft systems engineering experience, including: definition, design, modification and production, test and certification. Direct experience with rotorcraft platforms and mission systems, weapons and avionics integration is desired. Engineering leadership at the Level 1 or Level 2 IPT with direct interface to the U.S. Government customer. Must have knowledge/ experience in ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-national environment.
Decision Making :
Conduct trade-off analysis to optimize performance and risk for an aircraft or avionics modification. Lead the Class 1 ECP effort to present and approve by the U.S. Government for implementation.
· Recommend go/no-go decisions on pursuit of competing engineering efforts either independently (ECP) or as part of a larger program proposal effort
· Lead and supervise a supplier qualification or re-qualification quickly and decisively using standard industry criteria (ISO for instance)
