Overview: Surveys/Geomatics Stantec's Surveys/Geomatics Group is one of North America's largest surveying and mapping consultants with more than 700 geomatics employees, including over 90 licensed professional surveyors, operating out of 45 locations. Our team applies state-of-the-art office and field tools to deliver a broad range of solutions for private and public clients. Focusing on all aspects of spatial data, we provide services that include boundary surveying, topographic mapping, construction layout, geodetic and GPS surveys, GIS development, terrestrial laser scanning, aerial photogrammetry, and hydrographic surveying. Responsibilities: Stantec is seeking a GIS Technician to work its Buckhannon, WV office. This position is responsible for assisting in designing, implementing and maintaining GIS solutions for client and internal projects. This requires the incumbent to gain familiarity with Stantec's clientele and perform GIS assessments, digitize utility layers, design geodatabase, model geometric network and integrate hydraulic models. This position will work closely with the management team to assist with business development, strategic planning of the GIS as a practice area within Stantec, and training users and providing as-needed support for applying GIS applications to a wide range of engineering projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to take direction and work well with others, and a willingness to learn new skills, are essential for this position. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following:• One-two years experience in a GIS position of data analysis, system design, teaching or business development; helpful, but not required. • A Bachelor's Degree or higher is required, in the field of Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. • A high level of participation is in local GIS users groups, to demonstrate personal interest in the advancement of spatial technology would also be a plus.
