SENIOR BUYER (Plastics Components or Raw resins)
Base to $88,000 + strong benefit program
OUR Client: is Expanding, yes expanding Tier 1 Supplier - high volume manufacture of high quality interior systems / products with an extremely diverse customer bases.
With multiple Plants running to capacity, they have a significant projected increase in NEW Business for 2011. They are seeking to (direct) hire a Sr. Buyer for one of their strongest commodities. The chosen candidate will work with a Sr. Purchasing Manager along with senior department heads including the Director of Purchasing - Global. The corporation has demonstrated strong career advancement for its employees.
Position Responsibilities: (partial list):
- Establish and execute regional/global commodity sourcing strategies for a variety of automotive commodities for this global manufacture.
- Responsible for strategic sourcing of assigned commodity parts.
- Work closely with supply base and impact decisions.
- Identify, qualify and quote suppliers of production components/assemblies.
- Work with cross functional teams including engineering and quality to recommend supplier / sourcing strategy for assigned commodities.
- Collaborate with engineering and cost ops to identify and implement cost down opportunities.
- Gathers and analyzes supplier data to prepare analysis and recommendation for supplier selection.
- Help develop and execute sourcing strategies including achievement of spend reduction targets.
- Interface with internal customers on critical supplier issues as necessary.
- Participate, as needed, on Teams and effectively interact with other Purchasing employees, departments and/or manufacturing plant personnel.
REQUIREMENTS:
§ Bachelor’s degree (Masters a plus)
§ Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive experience
§ 5+ yrs of direct commodity buying or purchasing exp.
§ 4+ years plastic injection molding product experience. Raw resins or Plastic components (A MUST HAVE)
§ Evidence of cost reduction history
§ Prior experience with regional or global sourcing processes
§ Able to work cross-functionally with team or independently of projects
§ Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
§ Analytical and cost analysis skills will be helpful
§ Solid MS Office skill set
§ Low Travel
Pluses: (Not a requirement)
- Engineering exp. or degree
- Spanish language skills
- Experience buying resins
- LCC sourcing exp.
- Some experience with blue prints
