The Business Development Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the up-front system conceptual design and the activities associated with quoting and program procurement. This position with work closely with the sales and marketing, program management, and internal engineering groups to create battery system proposals.
Typical Duties:
1. Provide the single point technical focus to the OEM (Customer), our internal business development team, and our internal engineering teams during the early program concept/initiation phase.
2. Responsible for the systems engineering responsibilities until the program is approved and internally transferred to the engineering teams that will take to program to completion.
3. Identifies the necessary technical requirements of a product through use of customer specifications, government specifications, Industry specifications/norms, benchmarked specifications, JCI lessons learned, and best practices.
4. Participate in the specification and design of all battery components - mechanical, thermal, electrical, software, and electronics.
5. Play an integral role in leading the product design and technology roadmap for the global organization.
6. Assist in developing relationships with suppliers to help generate component specifications and to perform make vs. buy analysis.
7. Assist in the design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure that the design of all components, sub-systems, and battery system optimizes the manufacturing process at the sub-assembly, battery system assembly, and vehicle level assembly.
8. Assist in establishing a quality system - Support APQP efforts to ensure the delivery of a quality finished product and process. Assist in the development and implementation of a control plan.
9. Manage engineering documentation to ensure a sensible archive of information including engineering calculations, engineering drawings, intellectual property, DFMEAs, validation reports, meeting minutes, trip reports, and customer documents/communication.
10. Ownership of the system level DFMEA and coordinating the connections with other sub-systems and component FMEAs.
11. Lead the analysis of test data for battery systems.
12. Manage or provide technical direction to designers, engineers, suppliers, and support personnel.
Requirements:
BSEE from accredited four-year college or university. MS degree is desirable.10 years of professional engineering experience in related fieldGood computer skills (Microsoft Office Suites)OE Automotive/Tier 1 experience with powertrain systems/components is highly desiredExperience with high voltage EV/HEV systems is desiredExperience with automotive specifications, PPAP, and APQP is desiredSolid communication and organizational skillsTravel - up to 25%, including international Requirements:
