Job Description

We are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join our team based in Calgary District. The Operations Manager shall manage sprinkler, electronic and suppression construction projects.
Job Responsibilities
Ø Lead and develop teams of technicians, trades people and sub-contractors to deliver SimplexGrinnell projects on time and with a high level of customer satisfaction.
Ø Implement processes, procedures and methodologies to ensure that the requirements of each project are met, and that they are delivered within the timeframes required.
Ø Create project work plans that identify activities, resources and time frames necessary to meet both customer and internal requirements.
Ø Manage the job cost control functions, including work analysis, purchase order management, time sheet management and accounts payable.
Ø Manage the financial performance of the installation group through proper and accurate revenue forecasting, revenue recognition, timely and accurate invoicing, change order management and monitoring of accounts receivable.
Ø Analyze project profitability following completion to review job costs and identify and implement any opportunities for improvement which are identified.
Ø Participate in proposal and estimating activities on high profile projects, assisting district sales efforts by providing input to cost estimating and installation requirements.
Ø Interface with the Sales Department to ensure proper understanding of scope of work and customer satisfaction.
Job Qualifications
Ø Ability and desire to lead a multi-disciplined team to achieve excellence in customer satisfaction in a fast paced construction environment.
Ø A Mechanical Engineering degree considered an asset
Ø 3-5 years experience in construction project management or a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technologist with equivalent work experience.
Ø Knowledgeable and experienced in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems. Experience in construction contracting industry would be a definite asset.
Ø Working knowledge of electronic systems from a functional perspective.
Ø Good understanding of profit and loss statements, work in progress accounting and earned revenue models. Good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
Ø Excellent interpersonal and time management abilities. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ø Bilingualism (English, French) is an asset.
