Design Engineer (Firmware engineering)

As a Design Engineer you are responsible for developing and maintaining low-level firmware for Renaissance Learning hardware products, including the AlphaSmart laptop product line.  Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented team environment and able to work efficiently under pressure.  Strong organizational skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

 

This position will be located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI at our corporate headquarters. Build, test, and document embedded software solutions as a member of a multi-disciplined team of hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineers.  Write software in C and assembly language for 68000, HCS08, ARM, and 8051 platforms. Use development tools such as CVS, Metrowerks CodeWarrior, IAR Embedded Workbench, and various emulators and debuggers. Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts in the following areas: software architecture, embedded systems, wireless communications, networking protocols, USB, and related technologies.  A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.
