Senior Drilling Engineer

Being familiar with the framework and content of company drilling procedures/systems/policies and administer, interpret and make recommendations to the drilling Technical Authority. Review, provide input to other appropriate updates to Group policies, standards, management systems and procedures.

Working with the sub-surface and exploration teams to prepare a project Statement of Requirements, well proposals and well objectives in compliance with the companies policy and practice.

Preparing preliminary well designs, Class 5 well durations and cost estimates. Provide input for function, technology, new venture and asset budgets where appropriate.

Maintaining efforts to improve drilling performance through research of new technology, tools their applications and techniques. Then develop suitable applications and introduce new technologies that can improve the performance and reliability of the companies exploration and production wells portfolio.

Compiling offset well descriptions and prepare outline well designs to ensure that drilling programmes adopt optimum engineering, time and cost solutions.

Providing support to assets’ drilling operations in regard to the safe, cost-effective and timely completion of the wells in accordance with the drilling gated process, HSE procedures, Company policies, approved technical standards and budget constraints.

Initiating the project’s risk register and the first cycle of risk assessments in accordance with the companies Drilling Management System.

Supporting the Drilling operations teams by identifying potential drilling risks/hazards and assisting their design/planning of mitigation measures.

Auditing, investigation and reporting of non compliances, safety or environmental incidents.

Administering and review the company’s wells and drilling learning capture to transfer and improve best practice and lessons learnt between Countries and Assets.

Assisting in the preparation of end of well reports, identifying improvement points, support reconciliation and related cost tracking process in order to ensure documentation and reporting of drilling programs.

Providing drilling operations input to the Head Office emergency response organisation.

Attending the morning call to the rig to monitor progress, well conditions and plans/changes.
