POSITION:  SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR – BIRMINGHAM OFFICE COMPANY  BE&K is now a KBR Company with projects varying in size from $10M-$800M. Approximately 6,000 employees Provides services for the following industries:  Pulp & paper  Petrochemical  Chemical  Power  General Manufacturing BE&K provides a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Accounts, STD, LTD, Life and AD&D Insurances, 401K with match, college tuition reimbursement and many other benefit offerings. LOCATION Position will be at the corporate headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.  Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Trail, Birmingham is a well kept Southern secret.  Birmingham offers neighborhood communities that tout excellent school systems and in-town universities that include University of Alabama Birmingham, Samford University, and Birmingham Southern.  Known as the “Football Capital of the South”, Birmingham is an easy drive to both the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Take advantage of our 4 ½ day work week and combine it with Birmingham’s easy access to other large Southeastern cities including Atlanta (2 hours), Chattanooga (2.5 hours), Memphis (4 hours), New Orleans (5 hours) and the Gulf Coast (4.5 hours).  Explore Birmingham’s reasonable living costs and geographical advantages; you’ll find out why it has been referred to as “The Magic City” for years. REPORTING Position reports administratively to the Subcontracts Group Manager and is accountable to Project Managers and Project Procurement Managers. SCOPE This individual is assigned to the Subcontracts Group in Birmingham, Alabama, which is part of the Procurement and Materials Department.  The Subcontracts Group supports multiple projects for inquiry, evaluation, and award of subcontracts. PRINCIPAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: · Pre-qualification of Subcontractors through analysis of information sent in response to our questionnaires, financial investigation, and reference checks.· Development of Bidders Lists for work to be subcontracted on each project for Project Managers approval.· Receive, log, and check requisitions for subcontracts on projects for which this individual is responsible.· Resolve any discrepancies in the inquiry requisition and technical documents. Obtain missing information or documents.· Finalize Bidders List and obtain appropriate approvals.· Prepare and issue formal Request for Quotations.· Facilitate responses to Bidder queries regarding Request for Quotations.· Facilitate Pre-bid, bid clarification, pre-award, and award meetings as required.· Ensure proper meeting minutes are taken and distributed.· Effect negotiations to meet project and client goals.· Evaluate proposals and make recommendations for awards.· Obtain appropriate approvals for awards.· Ensure tax and license requirements are correctly addressed.· Ensure client needs are identified and effectively addressed.· Support project schedules.· Prepare, issue, and execute project subcontracts.· Participate in resolving Subcontractor dispute, claims, and performance issues.· Monitor Subcontractor compliance with insurance requirements.· Prepare and issue approved Addendums to Subcontracts in support of project requirements.· Maintain project subcontract files.· Ensure audibility of subcontract files.· Maintain and issue project Subcontract Status reports.· Ensure adherence to Corporate and Project Subcontracting Procedures. SECONDARY DUTIES: · Interface with Field Subcontract Manager or Coordinators and Administrative Managers to ensure proper scope and administrative requirements are incorporated into subcontracts.· Ensure adherence to project subcontracting plan and strategies.· Conduct business interviews with current and potential Subcontractors as required to maintain good business relationships.· Help maintain Subcontractor database and rating system.· Travel, as required, to conduct meetings and assist with resolution of problems.· Assist project with subcontract change management.· Assist project with enforcement of safety requirements.· Attend project subcontracting planning meetings and strategy meetings. DESIRED CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS: · Minimum of 10 years experience as a Subcontract Administrator in Industrial Engineering and Construction.· Firm understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of contracts.· Experience with self-performed and construction management projects.· A clear understanding of project interfaces.· Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.· Effective communication and presentation skills.· Ability to negotiate “win-win” results.· Ability to handle problems effectively and make appropriate trade-offs that lead to sound decisions.· Ability to leverage organizational resources to accomplish legitimate goals.· Must be willing to make tough decisions.· Computer literate EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, economics or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and related experience desirable. TO APPLY FOR THIS JOB, PLEASE POST YOUR RESUME AT THE FOLLOWING LINK(S):  https://kbr.myvurv.com/MAIN/careerportal/Job_Profile.cfm?szOrderID=16196&szUniqueCareerPortalID=67508002-a2bf-421f-aea0-1e512dc1159b
