Business Analyst (2846-147)
This position is responsible for a range of activities that support Heartland’s restaurant-related products: online reservation systems, order management, and restaurant POS systems. The Business Analyst will be the functional expert and will serve as the point of contact between the business unit and the software development team.
Key Responsibilities
* Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, site visits, business process descriptions, and prior experience.
* Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
* Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Business Requirements, Functional Requirements, and Development Product Backlogs.
* Serve in the Product Owner role on Scrum teams.
* Manage release dates and release plans.
* Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
* Work independently with users to define concepts as well as resolve system issues.
* Serve as the conduit between the product management team and the software development team through which requirements flow.
* Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
* Work with users to determine requirements for new features/functions including web sites/user interfaces.
* Work with developers to define business and processing logic.
* Act as the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
* Ensure, through review and verification, that project deliverables meet the specifications, including timeliness and quality.
Required Skills
* Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers and subject matter experts.
* Strong organizational skills including the ability to utilize project management techniques to drive projects to completion and track issues and actions as necessary.
* Strong negotiation skills.
Experience Required
* Five or more years of business analyst experience in an IT environment
* Five or more years of experience in the restaurant industry
* Five or more years of experience working with point of sale applications and websites
* Experience working with Aloha, MICROS, or Radiant POS systems
* Two or more years experience in the Product Owner role on Scrum teams.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree - preferably in Business, Finance or Computer Science
Required Knowledge:
Proficient in all MS Office products, proficient in SQL, clear understanding of the authorization transaction flow and associated business concepts
