POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensure the efficient, safe and profitable performance of all production activities. This includes ensuring quality and consistency that exceeds customer's expectations. Creating an environment that assures the safety and satisfaction of all employees.
MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assure the total compliance of company policies by verifying they are distributed, communicated, understood, followed and verified. This includes; safety, quality assurance, GMPs, work rules, HACCP, SSOP, preventative maintenance and equal rights. Manage and coordinate all activities of the department supervisors and employees including; staffing, vacation, training, discipline, etc. Develop goals and objectives with all employees of the department that further the objective and incorporate the same measures which will be used to evaluate department performance. Work with the Procurement Manager on developing the production schedule and approve and communicate it to the supervisor for planning. Develop and maintain accurate measurement tools for efficiency, inventory control, shrink, downtime, total man-hour, yield per pound and pound per day. Benchmark analysis of the results on measurable results in each of the areas. Establish project team for continuous improvements by areas. Ensure the accuracy of the measurement tools to accurately portray department performance. Assure that all government programs are in place and well documented. Establish a relationship with the inspector and resolve any concerns he might have in a positive manner. Perform quarterly drills for the Stock Recovery. Monitor and verify label compliance. Record the HACCP, GMP and SSOP incidences or deviations and make sure that preventative and corrective actions are put in place and documented. Verify the accuracy of customer specifications and communicate them to the supervisors. Ensure quality specifications are met consistently through the use of process control. Analyze the results and take the necessary measures to insure that a benchmark status is obtained in quality. Follow up and resolve customer complaints to ensure total customer satisfaction. Work on test products, new products or special projects directly with the customer or with the R & D department. Know the customer's finished product, cooking or presenting procedures. Build and maintain the best image of the facility. Sustain an environment that will be clean, safe and pleasant to work in. Review and maintain the monthly budget. Develop new ideas to ensure high quality, low cost/best value production by implementing creative savings. Control the daily usage. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field. Five years or more in food processing operation.
