Job Summary:
DTS, Inc.​ seeks a motivated self-starter interested in working with a creative and talented team of engineers to contribute to the technology/​product features definition, audio algorithm research and development, customer’s implementation support, technology demonstration and promotion.​




Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support and improvement of existing audio algorithm solutions for DTS audio codec technologies, room /​ loudspeaker calibration technology, spatial audio processing technologies, loudness control and other audio enhancement technologies.​

• Performing Research and Feasibility Studies including defining the scope and goals of audio research tasks and completion of detailed reports on results and recommendations for development activities.​

• Development of new algorithmic IP for audio processing solutions in the form of invention report submissions.​

• Research and Development of new algorithmic audio processing solutions for the existing DTS technologies mentioned above and additionally including new audio codec technologies, audibility and intelligibility enhancement technologies, 3D audio and other audio effects and enhancement technologies.​

• Support /​ educate customers in their understanding and implementation of DTS technologies



Required Education and Experience:
Required:

• PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields, with at least 5 years of experience in algorithm development

• Knowledge of digital signal processing theory

• Experience in algorithm design for audio and/​or speech codecs

• Knowledge of fixed-point programming and effects on audio algorithm development

• Ability to guide and assist members of the group on technical issues

• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills

• Excellent communications and organizational skills

• Team oriented work ethics

Desired:

• Experience using MatLab for algorithm development

• Good analytical listening skills

• Working Knowledge of C/​C+​+​ programming

• Experience in analyzing audio problems using tools such as MatLab, Adobe Audition and objective evaluation tools

• Familiarity/​Experience with one or more technical fields from the following:
o Time-Frequency or sub-band-domain techniques for audio processing
o Standard audio codecs such as MP3, AAC, HE-AAC, WMA, AC3, DTS
o Psychoacoustics and hearing
o Adaptive filtering and/​or adaptive beam forming
o Physical Acoustics
o Familiarity with patent application process and IP filing strategies

• Ability to effectively communicate the technically related information to non-technical audience

• Effective multi-tasking capabilities
