Network Engineer

Description:Foundation Information Technology (IT) is responsible for evolving and executing the foundation's strategy for information technology systems in accordance with the organization’s business requirements. This includes planning, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating cost-efficient enterprise systems that support both distributed and centralized grant management and business operations. IT also supports foundation programs directly, consulting on the execution of grants that include IT components.

The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, and daily operation of the enterprise infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, overall network security, IP addressing scheme, remote access systems, cabling, IP telephony, wireless network, radius authentication, etc. The Network Engineer is also responsible for supporting projects and resolving Level 3 service tickets.

• Daily operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the enterprise network and network-related systems, such as authentication servers, IP telephony servers, firewalls, DNS, remote access systems, LAN connectivity devices, wireless etc.• Continuously improve service: cost, quality, and performance.• Support resolution of Level 3 service tickets, as needed, in a timely manner.• Responsible for the installation and maintenance of WAN circuits (e.g. T-1, OC-3, frame relay).• Responsible for the IP Telephony infrastructure, including unified messaging components.• Provide project support in the timely completion of Network Services projects, milestone dates, commitments, deliverables, etc.• Provide hands-on configuration, installation, and maintenance of the enterprise infrastructure, network security, and servers.• Provide technical leadership as related to the enterprise infrastructure, network security, and servers.• Provide technical oversight and direction to Foundation vendors and consultants, as needed.• Assist in the development of Information Technology policies and procedures.• Adhere to Information Technology policies and procedures.• On-call duty on a rotational basis.• Some infrequent travel may be required for this position.Qualifications:• Bachelor degree in computer science, related field or equivalent experience required.• At least 5 years of relevant IT experience in enterprise networking.• Very strong knowledge of enterprise networking (wired and wireless), network security, switch configurations, router configurations, VPN configurations, firewall configurations, IP telephony, and network protocols at all layers of the OSI model.• Extensive experience with the Cisco product line is required.• CCNA required.
