Manager Reporting Services

The Associated Press seeks Manager of Reporting Services for its Business Technology division in New York City.Reporting into Business Technology, the manager will work as a part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary Business Technology team that provides business intelligence and reporting services to our end user community. Among other responsibilities, the candidate will manage our business intelligence platform and provide full end to end services including requirements identification and development, business intelligence report design, development and implementation. RESPONSIBILTIES: Collaborate with business owners and other departments within Technology to develop reports out of the data warehouse Implement repeatable development processes capable of delivering the company's business intelligence requirements Support and assist team members to meet project objectives and schedules Evangelize the concepts of KPIs and performance dashboards Responsible for the design and generation of ETL processes; data integrity, auditing and security; and supporting data administration Design and manage the business intelligence architecture and processes Manage the ETL functionality of multiple Data Warehousing projects from conception to implementation Oversee the development of logical and physical data models, ETL scripts, metadata definitions and models, queries and reports, schedules, work processes and maintenance procedures Define, and document the technical architecture of the Data Warehouse, including the physical components and their functionality Provide technical recommendations for optimized data access and retention for the data warehouse Provide on-going client communications through status meeting and other methods as appropriate Lead development and support efforts for data warehouse business intelligence reporting solutions and architectural standards (including software and technical and infrastructure components) Seek to achieve and apply defined business intelligence best practices

Qualifications Bachelors degree required Ability to both manage a project team and be a strong individual contributor directly involved in the hands-on work necessary to achieve deliverables Proven project management skills Thorough understanding of business intelligence reporting tools and technical architecture Minimum 5- 7 years professional experience in the business intelligence, data management and/or analytics arena Experience with various Business Intelligence (Business Objects XI, Hyperion, SQL Server Reporting Services) and associated architectural design of tools Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services/SQL BI Participation in several life cycle data warehousing implementations, particularly in leading report design/implementation effort Experience with design and development of front-end architecture: views, security, OLAP model, project and metrics Experience writing and debugging SQL statements Experience and understanding of database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server). Experience with ETL tools considered a plus Ability to gather and define user, functional, and technical requirements and translate into business intelligence report and query designs Working understanding of database data modeling principals and data warehousing methodologies and associated reporting strategies Must be able to organize and schedule work effectively Must be able to work well under time constraints Must be able to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities, communicating changes in scope and schedule to all parties concerned Must be service-oriented Must be able to work independently Strong interpersonal and communication skillsFounded in 1846, AP is the largest and oldest news organization in the world, serving as a source of news, photos, graphics, audio and video for more than one billion people a day.
