HR Generalist (Maternity Leave Contract)
In this position you will:
Work with Management and non-management associates to identify issues which may affect associate commitment and effectiveness and assesses opportunities to improve and strengthen communication and working relationships.
Types of projects you will be involved in include:
Associate Relations (40%)
Identify issues which may affect associate commitment & effectiveness through store visits, meetings with field representatives etc.
Building an awareness of H.R. offering through conversations with various field representatives.
Serve as a resource to the field in the development and execution of action plans associated with our annual climate survey, performance improvement etc.
Provide guidance to field on how to better optimize systems to further strengthen in store practices i.e. PeopleSoft, HR Access, etc.
Advise on policy writing and required adjustments based on field observations and trends.
Communicates and partners with all associates regarding performance concerns, progressive counseling, work or work/life issues; policy issues; requests for information. Will advise on progressive counseling to the point of termination.
Support return to work plans
Conduct Exit interviews and trend retention data.
Act as a message champion within the field - reinforcing messaging, gauging reaction and impact.
Collect and prepare all data required for investigations in order to ensure legislative compliance.
Educate surrounding H&S awareness and legislation requirements including supporting the development of effective H&S practices including facilitating / coordinating training programs such as First Aid, Forklift and due diligence training
Support JHSC activities such as minute submissions, workplace inspections, preparation for inspections/audit and resolution and closure of Ministry of Labour orders
Analyze and trend data arising from the JHSC meetings and review with the National H&S Committee
Provide regional participation in applicable provincial safety groups and forward relevant information to the National H&S committee. Report provincial initiatives to the Disability and Wellness Consultant. Leverage and liaise with other Safety Group representative to ensure alignment of initiatives and priorities. Liaise with the Disability and Wellness Consultant on trends, issues and MOL orders
Required to maintain high level of personal standards and conduct while protecting the security of all confidential information.
Conduct external interviews as required in order to support Recruitment efforts.
Facilitation (35%)
Facilitation of various training programs to managers within Region in order to achieve optimal training penetration.
Provide feedback to the Corporate Training department on developmental needs and course materials.
Internal Development (25%)
Promote and raise awareness surrounding the Internal Management Trainee Program.
Assist and support the coordination of developmental activity for Internal Management Trainee Candidates.
Take the lead in special projects as required.
Competencies, Technical Skills and Experience required for this position:
University Degree/Post Secondary Education required.
Certificate/Degree in Human Resources Management required.
3 years previous progressive experience in Human resources required in the areas of recruiting, training and employee relations.
Previous experience in Retail/Retail Management an asset
Ability to travel when required for role - approximately 20% of time.
Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Working Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Health and Safety Legislation and other employment Legislation.
