Position Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, monitors and controls systems in a client/server environment in accordance with standard routines and PSC policies, practices and procedures. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Assist the helpdesk in producing processes for new setups as well as assisting in improving the processes to assist in PSC employee’s customer satisfaction* Address helpdesk tickets as escalated from the outsourced helpdesk. The Desktop Engineer will assist in the implementation of new programs and processes to assist the PSC IT team in making efficient decisions for new applications. * Assist the systems administrator and network engineer in creating application flows for the various systems within PSC.* Lead or assist in troubleshooting efforts. Documentation* Process documentation for helpdesk standards* Assist with producing application flow documentsTechnical Practices* Work under direction/ leadership of the Director of Infrastructure to create a system environment that effectively and efficiently supports the company’s productivity operationally* Assist in defining projects paths from a technical understanding* Provide communication on technical issues and help provide direction to Directors of IT project team, foster and promote knowledge exchange, create an environment that enhances team motivation, delegate tasks appropriately, and act as an example to the team in communicating in a timely and effective manner.Status Reporting* Attend weekly meetings with vendors on Network, Server, and Helpdesk levelsGroup Expertise* Develop and assist in technical training for other members of the IT group.MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:* Productivity* Quality* Team Player* Technical knowledgeEDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:* High School Diploma or equivalent JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:* Minimum 1 year experience working in technology including the following experience* Technical skills at the server and network level* Working in a Microsoft office* Working on desktop hardware* Low level server administrative functions, i.e. basic Exchange administration, basic Citrix administration, AD administration* Experience with Dell, HP, and Compaq hardware. * Excellent communication skillsDEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Knowledge of the desktop configuration and should have a basic understanding on Exchange and Active Directory. * Knowledge also includes installing software onto desktops* Ability to install memory, download software, and build a server from scratch in an operationally critical timeframe if necessary* Ability to interact and communicate professionally with non-technical employees on technical issues. * Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving as well as customer service skills. * Team leadership within a technical role ability to work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with clients, peers, and management. * Familiarity with technical diagram/process flow-charting * Familiarity with MS Office Applications, including MS Project (project scheduling, time management) and MS Windows, and * Ability to lift servers, switches, and routers as necessary* Ability to modify the technical plans based on operational issues* Effective and logical troubleshooting skills* Proficiency in communicating technical issues with the IT management WORKING CONDITIONS:* Office Environment
