MANAGER, VALUE ANALYSIS

  The Manager, Value Analysis is responsible for the cross functional problem-solving activity that focuses on improving the value of the functions that are required to accomplish the objective of any product, process, or service. This position is responsible for the systematic application of recognized techniques that identify the functions of the product or service, establish the worth of those functions, and provide only the necessary functions to meet the required performance at the lowest overall cost. The Value Analysis (VA) process is based on the application of function analysis to the component parts of a product. Component cost reduction is used to improve "value" when direct labor and material cost determines the success of a product. The value analysis technique supports cost reduction activities by relating the cost of components to their function contributions. Value analysis defines a "basic function" as anything that makes the product work or sell. A function that is defined as "basic" cannot change. Secondary functions or "supporting functions", describes the manner in which the basic function(s) are incorporated or implemented. Secondary functions can be modified or eliminated to reduce product cost. Job Requirements:   To adequately fulfill the accountabilities of this position the candidate will posses a bachelors degree preferably with an engineering major and 2 to 4 years experience with similar VA -VE processes and Program Management. In total the incumbent will have 10 plus years of leadership and engineering experience in a variety of operations and technical roles in a manufacturing environment with exposure to lean/six sigma tools.   The incumbent will posses a demonstrable knowledge of program management tools and procedures; have strong management skills; particularly influence management and conflict resolution.
