Day Habilitation Program Director
Responsible for overseeing and managing the operation of a day habilitation program that serves 130+ developmentally disabled adults. Hire staff, ensure curriculum and scheduled activities are matched to participant's individual needs, abilities, and interests. Establish strategic goals and priorities for the day program. Develop policies and procedure for the program. Act as liaison and primary spokesperson for the day program and promote and publicize activities to the general public.
Hire, train, supervise, and appraise day program management. Administer discipline and terminations as necessary.
Hold regular staff meetings with direct reports and ensure direct reports hold regular staff meetings with their subordinate staff.
Purchase supplies, furniture and equipment for the program and ensure program operates within program allowable hours and within budget.
Write requests for additional funding to the Department of Mental Retardation.
Manage employee complaints not resolved at a lower level.
Coordinate the work efforts of volunteers.
Establish which Individuals receive 1:1 staff support via the DMR 1:1 staff contract and submit this information to the Director of Program Services.
Ensure billing and grant documentation requirements are met; work in collaboration with Accounting function to ensure same.
Analyze annual demographic and ISP goals.
Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of courses and activities offered at the day habilitation program. Approve activities and classes annually to be included in the program and service catalogue.
Oversee and manage the summer youth program.
Monitor facility safety and ensure regulatory requirements are met. Ensure the building meets OSHA requirements and that direct reports establish and/or maintain systems and report results.
Ensure routine maintenance and repair needs of the center are met and provide input to Director of Program Services for needed capital repairs.
Ensure safety requirements are met (e.g. ensure evacuation routes are up to date and that there is an ample supply of first aid kits and fire extinguishers in the building. Ensure fire systems are inspected regularly. Hold evacuation drills per regulation and document results. Ensure that the safety plan for the center is up to date. Participate on the safety committee.
Facilitate inspections by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and QUEST.
Approve all signage for the program.
Hold an annual open house for families, guardians and other care providers.
Monitor major quarterly events that include community opportunities in conjunction with program management.
Lead tours and/or appoint designees for new referrals, funding sources and others.
Write newsletter for families, guardians and care providers bi-annually.
Ensure program meets Medicaid requirements; approve new admissions and termination of participants in the program.
Conduct annual satisfaction survey and submit report to stake holders.
Write quarterly progress reports for Director's meeting and distribution to stake holders.
This position interfaces with staff, peers, Senior Management, DMR, clinicians and families.
