VP of Sales & Marketing, Food Ingredients

Our client is a world-class, specialty manufacturer of specialty food ingredients.  We offer the food industry unparalleled capabilities for innovation and customization to meet our customers’ precise new product development requirements.  We are seeking a Vice President of Sales and Marketing at our Corporate office in Madison, Wisconsin.  This individual will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the sales and marketing functions. 

Reports to:  President
Direct Reports:  Sales Managers, Marketing Services
Travel:  50%

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Assist with development and execution of Company strategic vision. 

•  Develop and implement the sales and marketing plans in support of the Company’s goals and achievement of revenue and EBITDA targets.

•  Meet with key clients, provide sales presentations, and assist sales managers with building and maintaining relationships with new and current customers.

•  Drive new product and business development opportunities.

•  Communicate with external R&D / Technical personnel on a variety of food applications.

•  Manage the delivery of prices and negotiations.

•  Determine annual sales budgets and manages team to meet/exceed plan.

•  Develop annual expense budget and ensures teams conform to budgetary requirements.

•  Monitor and evaluate the activities, trends, and products of the market and competition and utilize this information as a sales forecasting tool.

•  Prepares periodic sales report showing progress towards annual plan numbers, recent activities, commercial issues, potential customer and/or product development opportunities.

•  Frequent interaction with R&D, Finance, Operations/Scheduling, and Supply Chain.

•  Drive brand awareness in the food industry as a world-class manufacturer of high-value confectionery coatings.

•  Manage all marketing communications including: branding, advertising, promotion, public relations, collateral, and trade shows.

REQUIREMENTS:

  •  4-year degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or other relevant technical area
  •  7+ years of sales/marketing experience working with food ingredients
  •  3+ years of management experience
  •  Strong understanding of ingredient technology and application to various food products
  •  Established contacts at the major food companies
  •  Self-starter and team player who can thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  •  Insightful, strategic and analytical thinker, understanding the possibilities that exist
  •  Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  •  Strong business acumen
