Accounting Manager

ACCOUNTING MANAGERThe Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations resulting in the capture of all business transaction data and related processes. This position will provide leadership, training and development for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams and will work closely with our Sr. Financial Analyst to disseminate financial information and other Department Managers as to the integration of processes. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for identifying, tracking and disseminating other business analytical information to members of Management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervisory Activities--Serve as a role model for the Company’s values.-Represent the Accounting Department by maintaining good relationships with internal/external parties and establish effective systems of communication with such parties.-Ensure that appropriate measures are taken to keep the Accounting Department on course to reach its established goals. Work with the Controller to revise those goals in accordance with current conditions. Establish responsibilities and time frames among the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable  employees to meet those goals. -Prioritize, schedule, delegate work assignments, directly supervise and appraise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees.-Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required Accounting Department paperwork, records and documentation.-Act as a technical resource to employees in other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems.-Understand all Accounting Department functions and provide for appropriate back up and cross-training of job duties. Technical--Maintain strong understanding of corporate processes and their interaction with the Accounting Department. Work closely with the IT Department and other company management and personnel to ensure transactional data is captured timely and accurately.-Leverage the capabilities of SAP to continually streamline processes and gather appropriate information. Share appropriate business analytics for corporate change.-Develop, implement, monitor and maintain policies, procedures, practices and systems relating to the operations of the accounting function.-Assist in the creation, maintenance and monitoring of internal controls and audit functions.-Assist in the annual audit of the Company’s financial statements.-Participate in special projects, act as an assistant to the Controller and address and resolve inquires.-Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of methods, processes, quality and productivity, while reducing costs. Human Resources - -Establish an environment where the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees are treated fairly, with dignity and respect, where they feel empowered to perform and grow, and where they are motivated to work as a team to meet the Accounting Department’s and the Company’s Forward Plan. -Consult with the Controller to provide human resource management for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees, including the establishment of job descriptions, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation and goal setting, rewarding, discipline and termination of such employees. -Consult with the Controller to resolve conflicts and address complaints that arise among Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees.-Coordinate with temporary agencies for temporary help, adding and releasing people as required by the workload. Planning and Growth--Participate in the ongoing development of the Company’s Forward Plan, particularly as it relates to Accounting Department operational matters, encouraging the process of constructive change.-Show commitment to personal development and growth and to the development and growth of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees and the Accounting Department as a whole.Quality Assurance--Analyze Department workflow and institute procedural change to improve quality and productivity.QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:Education and/or Experience-Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4-6 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.  CPA or CMA preferred.Computer Applications Skills-Ability to work in a Windows environment and with standard current computer applications, such as work processing, spreadsheets and data bases.
