Staff Accountant/Accounts Receivable

 

Company Profile:We are a rapidly growing downtown Los Angeles wholesale produce business with a retail division and export division. We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience; college degree in accounting preferred.Job Description:We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated, hardworking team member who is able to work independently as well as with others. Must have excellent computer skills, be extremely organized, responsible and detail oriented. Accounting experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable is necessary and some experience with preparation of Financial statements and payroll is helpful. Must be able to prioritize and manage time wisely. Experience with Receivables monitoring and calling customers who are late. Position may also involve some Accounts Payable as well. The candidate should be persistent with the ability to follow up and be proactive in identify and resolving problems in a professional and timely fashion. Team member must be a “people person” with outstanding communication skills, and have the desire and ability to develop a friendly working relationship with co-workers, customers, vendors, brokers and all other contacts involved in the supply chain. The candidate can also be asked to work on different projects as needed and help Management with all necessary, related tasks.

Direct Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

-Collecting, entering, posting and reconciling Accounts Receivable.

-Provide customer payment forecasts and weekly AR updates.

-Responsible for reconciling customer over/under payments.

-High aptitude for analyzing and problem solving account discrepancies

-Experience with account reconciliation and deduction resolution skills

-Update customer accounts with contact information

-Maintaining cash applications, accounts reconciliations and charge-back balances.

-Reconcile bank account and AR/AP subledgers to GL

-Responsible for issuing credit memos when appropriate.

-Matching, coding, entering and filing Accounts Payable invoices

-Performing weekly check run

-Make deposits at local bank

-Arrange electronic wire transfers via internet

-Help with Month End close.

-Assist on other projects as assigned

-Experience in SagePro, other Sage products or QuickBooks a plus.

Job Requirements:Qualifications: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting. At least 3-5 years of experience in Accounting required, preferable in a wholesale/manufacturing setting.

Benefits: Pay is commensurate with experience and ranges from $30k to $45k per year.
