Faculty, Art History, Full-Time, Tenure Track Fall 2009


Salem State College is seeking an Art Historian in our Art Department.  This individual must have a broad knowledge of art history. Ability to teach dynamic surveys of art history, overview courses on Renaissance art, women artists, plus develop courses in areas of specialty. Assist with development of slide library and book collection, lecture series, and undergraduate research symposium, and develop contacts with area museums.  Subject to available funding.


Required qualifications include a Ph.D degree in Art History or related field.  Two years full-time college level teaching experience and publications. 


Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D degree in Art History or related field with 3 years full-time college teaching.  College teaching experience and experience in and commitment to teaching in a multiracial, multiethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles, as well as in distance learning and instructional technologies, and candidates who enjoy serving as role models and mentors for a diverse student body.


The salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Application review will begin in the Fall of 2008 and continue until an adequate pool is developed.
