Financial Data Analyst

Brief Position Summary:

 

The financial data analyst will support the financial analysis, planning, and reporting process by gathering key financial data. This position prepares data for the reporting and analysis of key performance measures, management reports, financial analysis, annual and quarterly planning, and decision support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

· Work with HR, staffing, and finance departments to prepare reports in conjunction with the Financial Systems Business Analyst.

· Evaluate Ad-hoc reporting requests for incorporation into a reporting system available to users.

· Manage requests and timelines in a multi-company environment.

· Create systems documentation and process documentation that complies with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

· Ensure proper permissions are in place to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

· Provide end user support, including establishing new reporting databases, enhancing existing databases, developing reports, developing report distribution mechanisms, and training departmental staff in use of reporting tools.

· Assist the Financial Systems Business Analyst and Database Administrator in support duties.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

· Good user interviewing skills with the ability to translate users needs into deliverable reports.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

· Good organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

· Excellent understanding of accounting principles.

· Advanced SQL query writing and optimization skills.

 

Educational/Experience Requirements:

 

· Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting, or equivalent Accounting experience.

· 3-5 years experience performing financial data management and report writing.

· Experience connecting multiple data sources, delimited text, MS Excel, MS Access, and RDMS.

· Experience with reporting tools (Cognos Enterprise, Crystal Reports, SQL Reporting Services, or similar products ).

· Experience implementing or configuring Cognos Enterprise Planner and Business Intelligence or similar BPM software.

· Experience with an RDMS (MS SQL Server 2000, Oracle, Sybase, or DB2).

· Experience with Costpoint or similar accounting software.
