Internal Audit Supervisor

PURPOSE:

This Internal Auditor has responsibility for assisting with the implementation of the Internal Audit Department’s programs, as well as the SOX compliance initiatives for both 1st & 2nd year compliance subsidiaries.

 

SCOPE:

This position is responsible for performing internal and SOX audits from which the results will provide: The identification of GAPS in the key controls of key processes; Recommendations for remediation of GAPS identified; Improvement or development of efficient and effective business processes, and performing testing of remediated controls; Supervising and assisting with the preparation of the Exception lists post remediation and running all the exceptions through the aggregation framework; and The identification and communication of best business practices.

  PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Review financial and operational systems for adequate internal controls primarily with respect to SOX compliance and secondarily with an internal audit focus. Ensure adequate evidentiary documentation of business processes and their controls. Develop strong working relationship with management teams’ personnel at the subsidiary companies while ensuring that Internal Audit remains independent in appearance and in fact. Be a change agent for the SOX compliance initiative. Work closely with the subsidiaries to maximize the successful execution of the internal audit department’s objectives as well as providing “perceived value added concurrent audit services” to the subsidiaries.

  KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Ability to be part of and contribute to the achievement of an internal audit team’s goals, which operates within a complex and diverse subsidiary rich organization. Skill with examining operational control procedures, and assisting with providing guidance and support to those implementing more robust procedures. Aptitude to assist with the implementation of short and long-range SOX/internal audit plans. Strong communication skills. Able to follow directions and guidance as provided. Ability to see the broad implications of events, as well as understand the details. Ability to identify and tackle critical issues head-on but with the political savvy and ability to know when to delegate matters upward. Strong planning and organizational skills; able to perform multiple projects simultaneously. Must have a strong attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce quality work.
