Manufacturing Engineer

Position Description:
Stamford, CT - The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for reducing variation, providing technical support to the process, translating regulations into practice, and implementing various processes, tooling, and equipment for cost effective and efficient production of high quality medical products and components. The incumbent will apply knowledge of Materials, Mechanical, Optical, and Electrical Engineering to develop manufacturing methods, tooling, and testing to support existing and new products. Requirements and Responsibilities:
* Maintain documentation and ensure the adherence to procedures.
* Train and instruct technical and production personnel on the proper, effective, and safe operation of equipment and tooling.
* Verify bill of materials and labor standards.
* Assist in the preparation of preventative maintenance documentation and plans.
* Implement Process Controls using knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiments, and other techniques, by establishing a robust methodology for learning and understanding the source of process variability and developing recommendations to improve the overall predictability and stability of yields, while ensuring product quality.
* Assist in the development and implementation of new processes which improve the quality and lower the cost of various products and components.
* Provide technical problem solving and solution implementation.
* Prepare and justify capital expenditure.
* Quality Systems.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)
* A Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or 12 years of relative work experience in manufacturing or development is required.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is desired.
* Six Sigma Green Belt is desired.
* Must demonstrate an ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions using a systematic and reasoned method.
* The ability to interpret and comprehend an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with multiply variables is essential. Must apply engineering principles to specific production or development issues to resolve problems and implement improvements.
* Knowledge of CAD is desired.
* Must effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a highly dynamic environment.
* The ability to effectively communicate in oral and written format with a broad range of technical, production, managerial, and professional personnel is necessary.
* Must have the ability to comprehend and apply the principles of basic statistics, particularly in the areas of process control and design of experiments.
* Familiarity with FDA, GMP and QSP procedures, as well as ISO and external standards is essential.
* May be required to travel to other facilities and sites (<10%).
