Material Control Specialist

Required Skills:Minimum of one year experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in the use of MS Office on PC workstations.
Job Description:Under general supervision, identify material requirements and prepare material take-offs from engineering drawings in accordance with practices, codes, specifications, procedures and specific project requirements related to piping and structural steel needs.

Provide procurement support and expediting in conformance with project requirements.

Become familiar with basic materials and demonstrate an awareness of their importance to the overall effort.

Become familiar with and understand material contingencies, logistics analysis and material management functions.

Demonstrates an understanding of material control activities and interfaces with internal and external clients. When requested, provide written/verbal communications with internal and external clients. Development logistics and related procedures with Procurement, Construction, Project Controls and Project to ensure the timely delivery of materials to the job site.

Assists field forces during construction, if required.

Possess working knowledge of and interpret P&IDs, other discipline drawings and manufacturer's catalog data.

Develop manpower forecasts, estimates and schedules for material control.

Prepare trends and status reports, as required.

Assist in training others, as required. Supervise a small contract or several small units within a contract, if required.

Possess knowledge of contract organization and the researching of needed information. Represent Material Control at meetings with clients, vendors and other disciplines concerning matters relating to Piping Material Control.

With direct supervision, accomplish assigned tasks within the allocated schedule and budgeted hours.

Provide direct and working supervision to all assigned personnel by assuming tasks and preparing schedules to ensure that materials are delivered to the job site in accordance with construction schedules.
