Sr Staff Accountant

BASIC FUNCTION: Perform advanced general accounting tasks in accordance with GAAP and corporate policy including upload & full documentation of financial statements, maintaining and reconciling accounts, and capital asset administration.  Other basic functions include but are not necessarily limited to: Pricing discount contracts, inter company transactions, variance analysis and reconciliations, prepaid instrument administration, accounts payable research & analysis and special research projects as required.  All employees are expected to perform their duties within their ability as required by the job or as requested by management. Education and Experience:  ·  B.S. Degree or M.S. Degree in Accounting required·  CPA or CPA Candidate required·  Minimum three years related experience, preferably including public accounting. Knowledge/Skills Required: ·  Advanced Excel required·  Intermediate Access required·  JD Edwards and Crystal Reports preferred·  Type 50+ wpm and 10-key by touch·  Full understanding of basic accounting principles including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting Theory·  Strong business writing skills Principal Accountabilities: 1.  Fixed Asset Administration: capital acquisition approvals, tagging, tracking, documenting, auditing and reconciliation.2.  Prepaid Instrument Administration: capital acquisition approvals, tagging, tracking, documenting, auditing and reconciliation.3.  Financial Reporting & Analysis; preparing/generating monthly financial statements4.  Ensure timely & accurate processing of essential payments5.  Reconciliation of accounts6.  Journal entry preparation and entry into system7.  Research & resolve outstanding reconciling items8.  Inter-company  transactions9.  Price Contract Set up & Maintenance10.  Write policies and procedures11.  Create database queries and reports as needed12.  SOX Documentation & Reporting13.  Review & Document Internal Controls14.  Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: 1. Sitting is required approximately 75% of the shift.  The remaining 25% of the time is accomplished in a standing/walking position. 2. Reaching, normally at shoulder level or just below, is required for approximately 50% of the time.  Occasional over the head reaching may be required. 3. Twisting the body at the waist is required approximately 40% of the time, particularly when seated, to answer questions, reach for the telephone or similar operations. 4. Lifting and carrying are normally limited to items less than 10 pounds for a distance of up to 10 feet.  If travel is a job requirement, expected lifting and carrying could be up to 40 pounds for a distance of 40-50 feet. 5.
