The Deloitte Tax professionals of the National Federal Tax Services practice work with local office Deloitte Tax professionals to assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis.  These Federal tax professionals work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position and identify and mitigate risk areas.   Tax Senior Managers use their expertise in accounting and taxation to identify and engage clients in tax consulting projects, supervise both large and complex tax consulting projects, understand and manage the business operations related to our engagements, and connect with, evaluate and develop our people. They must be familiar with the tax consulting process and the professionalism necessary for the effective diagnosis, solution, development and implementation of clients' tax needs.   As a Senior Manager in our Federal Tax practice in the National Federal Tax Services Group, you will be offering day-to-day management of accounts through the delivery of tax consulting services to the client. Your primary responsibilities include: oversight of complex tax  projects for clients in diverse industries; participation in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates; research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues encountered on our projects and working closely with both our engagement teams and our partners.   Senior Managers supervise assignments by the professional accountants serving as Tax Consultants, Seniors andManagers. They have responsibility for the development and motivation of engagement staff and provide them with leadership, counseling and career guidance. They must identify and effectively communicate technical tax and service issues to the Partners and Directors responsible for the projects. They should work closely with Partners and Directors and support them in their role to identify service opportunities, manage client accounts and billing, and advance various Firm initiatives. They have proven, extensive technical expertise and have developed their reputation in a given industry/service line and are viewed as such by our practice offices.   Tax Senior Managers working in the National Federal Tax Services Group will work exclusively in one of the following areas:   - Strategic Tax Reviews - STR - Capital Expenditures - CapEX - Inventory Strategies, Improvements & Solutions - ISIS - Meals & Entertainment - MERS - Earnings & Profits - E&P - Partnership Solutions - Transaction Cost Recovery Strategies - TCRS - Production Activity Solutions - PAS - Research & Development - R&DA key service offering for NFTS is E300, our Earnings and Profits group.  Many companies are restructuring, disposing of unwanted subsidiaries, making strategic acquisitions using both cash and stock, and modifying their distribution strategy to match recent changes in dividend tax rates.  In addition, there are many companies in bankrupcy or contemplating bankruptcy.  Any of these situations warrants the completion of a stock basis, or earnings and profits (E300) analysis.   As a Tax Senior Manager, qualified candidates must possess: - 8 or more years of public accounting experience or equivalent in law firms or industry - Excellent Research and Writing skills - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field - Prior Big 4 experience a plus - Flexibility for extensive regional travel - Proven, excellent interaction skills with management/executive presence - CPA, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate certification required - Advanced Degree preferred: MST, MAcc, JD or LL.M About DeloitteDeloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, and its network of member firms, each of which is a legally separate and independent entity.
