Technical Editor - Accounting Standards and Communications - Wilton, CT This position will perform editorial reviews of the following: - Guidance to be added to, or revised in, Deloitte & Touche LLP accounting manuals. - Technical publications relating to accounting developments. Publications are aimed at Deloitte & Touche professionals, clients and other parties with interest in financial reporting matters. This position will be responsible for clarity of language, correct grammar and spelling in guidance and publications. This role will help ensure that publications conform to department and company standards, effectively communicate content and are technically accurate. The Technical Editor will coordinate with technical accounting professionals as well as production personnel on publishing of guidance and accounting publications. - Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, or related field - Minimum of three years' experience performing substantive editing of complex, technical materials; ability to analyze structure and think critically - Solid copyediting, researching and computer skills - Demonstrated mastery of grammar and usage rules; able to achieve high score on editorial test samples - Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style; thorough understanding of what constitutes "good writing"; genuinely passionate about language - Able to make editorial and design decisions with minimal supervision - Able to review the work of peers and contribute constructive criticism - Able to serve as grammar and language "expert" when writers or others request assistance with content development - Able to work well with people and be a team player - Extremely detail oriented with outstanding organizational skills, able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, troubleshoot problems as required and meet deadlines - Able to work beyond normal working hours when needed - Familiarity with accounting is advantageous, but not required About DeloitteDeloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, and its network of member firms, each of which is a legally separate and independent entity.
