We’re seeking an enthusiastic RESEARCH ASSOCIATE- TRIAL COORDINATOR to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team at our DeForest, WI location. The successful candidate will be part of a new trait development-plant breeding cross functional team working on yield improvement and disease resistance mainly in sweet corn. Major responsibilities include planning, planting and maintaining field and greenhouse trials and collecting and analyzing data of those trials. Other important functions will be to assist in the advancement of sweet corn germplasm, including pollination and harvesting of nurseries, and in laboratory work related to maintenance and increase of disease pathogens. There are also growth opportunities in areas such as data analysis using state of the art IT tools, assist in implementing molecular breeding tools in sweet corn breeding program and/or involvement in research projects in other vegetable crops. The position requires the ability to train and manage small groups of workers for field and greenhouse trials. This person must be detail oriented, self-motivated and also work well in a diverse team environment. The candidate must have a strong focus on safety and be able to train and emphasize safety requirements to other employees. The position will require occasional (less than 10%) domestic and international travels.  Number of hours worked per week will vary due to seasonal peaks in work load and relocation benefits are available to the qualified candidate.

The successful candidate will possess a:
- BS degree in Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Agronomy or related field, at least 3 years of agricultural research experience or Masters Degree.
- Ability to track and manage complex projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfort with field, greenhouse and pathology lab work

Desired Experience/Skills:
- Evidence of strong talents in the areas of problem solving, agility, self motivation, and attention to detail.
- College coursework or previous experience in plant pathology, plant breeding or related areas.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).
- Ability to multi-task in both the field and greenhouse/laboratory.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
- Ability to supervise temporary labor.
