Outside Plant Technician - MilwaukeePAETEC's integrated communications solutions are as broad as the nationwide markets we serve, and as specific as the individual needs of businesses.  We bring extraordinary experience and flexibility to tailoring individual solutions for our customers, and we back it up with our commitment to service excellence.  It's our passion - a passion for qualityResponsible for maintaining an area of the Outside Plant Network, including but not limited to: route surveillance, emergency maintenance and restoration, network maintenance, network relocation, new construction, and fiber splicing, testing and delivery through direct involvement of field work activities and coordination with their manager.  Review construction documents and provide the initial review to determine potential impacts to the outside plant network.   Involve Supervisor based on the level of impact to develop solutions to resolve impacts to protect the network.   Perform route surveillance and take corrective action on issues discovered in order to prevent unscheduled outages.  This is to include providing support and direction on unlocatable network issues.  Review preliminary construction prints from ROW authorities and remain in contact with them to determine and alleviate conflicts.   Utilize internal equipment for implementing repairs or issue small job work orders to contractors for repairs.   Perform preventative maintenance OTDR testing of the fiber optic plant.   Work assigned on call schedule, respond to network outages and direct internal or Outside Plant contract resources for the initial response to emergencies.   Provide field documentation on the cause of outages to determine and document responsible parties.   Provide splicing, testing and site supervision to support the delivery of these projects and insure compliance with company construction and splicing standards. Responsible for status updates and review of maintenance projects through the standard tracking system.  Vocational Degree in Telecom Technical training or 8 years of experience.   Knowledge of fiber optic construction, splicing, testing, maintenance and repair At PAETEC, it's not just business.  It's personal.  Our mission is to be the most customer- and employee-oriented telecommunications provider.  We work hard to take care of our employees, who work hard to build long-term relationships with our customers.PAETEC also partners with leading technology companies to deliver world-class solutions to the communications challenges our customers face.  In addition, PAETEC's employee-led Green Team is creating near- and long-term actions to increase sustainability across all our operations nationwide.  If you want to make a difference, PAETEC is the place to be. We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer F/F/D/V.
